The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pedrinho de Alcântara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar Torres in the 3rd minute of play. A collision led to Clube de Regatas MEC getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. With a little luck, Areinha FC's Pedrinho de Alcântara got control of the ball when Manuel Sarmento tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 13th match minute, Areinha FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Alberto Valladares to maneuver through the defense. When Manuel Sarmento came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Clube de Regatas MEC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manuel Sarmento couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Oscar Torres in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedrinho de Alcântara saved Areinha FC from getting behind. 18 minutes into the match, Clube de Regatas MEC's Oscar Torres sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedrinho de Alcântara narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alfredo Guedes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Charles Mattos having to make a save. A collision led to Areinha FC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Carlos Alberto Valladares hit a great ball. Manuel Sarmento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Pedrinho de Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oscar Torres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pedrinho de Alcântara made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Manuel Sarmento sent off a good shot on target. José Pedro Novaes hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Pedrinho de Alcântara made an important save on a dangerous shot by Manuel Sarmento in the 39th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Torres in the 42nd minute of play forced Areinha FC's goalkeeper Pedrinho de Alcântara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 47th minute, Areinha FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Manuel Sarmento fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The Clube de Regatas MEC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Areinha FC were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Oswaldo Prado to make the kick off. Manuel Sarmento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Pedrinho de Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 57 minutes into the match, Areinha FC's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Sarmento came free, but Pedrinho de Alcântara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Oscar Torres came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Clube de Regatas MEC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oscar Torres couldn't finish the play. After 62 played minutes Areinha FC got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Bezerra. Zé Paulo Alcântara was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 63rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Pedrinho de Alcântara stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Oscar Torres's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. If Oswaldo Prado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 75th minute Gabriel de Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedrinho de Alcântara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81stth minute of the game Manuel Sarmento who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Areinha FC's Pedrinho de Alcântara was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 82 minutes into the game, Pedrão Paraibano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Areinha FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clube de Regatas MEC the free kick. In the 82nd minute, Pedrão Paraibano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pedrinho de Alcântara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manuel Sarmento in the 83rd minute of play. After 87 played minutes Areinha FC got a freekick which was hit by Aílton Rocha. A collision led to Areinha FC getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Carlos Alberto Valladares hit a great ball. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
