In the 71st minute, Oscar Torres got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 73 minutes, Oscar Torres managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Clube de Regatas MEC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oscar Torres was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Moderna FC's Edvaldo Passos pulled a muscle in his leg after 74 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Gordon Banks charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. When Oscar Torres came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Clube de Regatas MEC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oscar Torres couldn't finish the play. Clube de Regatas MEC's Manuel Sarmento got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Moderna FC's Dorian Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oscar Torres in the 89th minute of play. Augusto Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charles Mattos having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Clube de Regatas MEC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
