Santa Cruz's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Desportiva Unida the free kick. In the 9th minute, Fernão do Vale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Desportiva Unida's Jacinto Paraense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiaguinho Nascimento in the 15th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Santa Cruz's goal looked a bit too open when Leandro Netto came free, but Benjamim de Barros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Magno Messias fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Santa Cruz's protests and gave Magno Messias a yellow card for diving instead. In the 22nd match minute, Santa Cruz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Magno Messias to maneuver through the defense. Yan de Amarals short, quick shot in the 24thth minute got Benjamim de Barros to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Through an outstanding action, after 32 minutes, Benjamim de Barros successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Leopoldo Berger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamim de Barros having to interfere. Benjamim de Barros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Yan de Amaral's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tiaguinho Nascimento during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 66 played minutes Santa Cruz got a freekick which was hit by Tiaguinho Nascimento. 68 minutes into the match, Leopoldo Berger had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benjamim de Barros. Santa Cruz's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leopoldo Berger was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. After 73 minutes Desportiva Unida's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Erik Catarinense who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Santa Cruz's Erik Catarinense to fire away a dangerous shot which Jacinto Paraense despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 76 minutes into the match, Santa Cruz's goal looked a bit too open when Yan de Amaral came free, but Benjamim de Barros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 80 minutes of play Santa Cruz's Tiaguinho Nascimento was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Santa Cruz getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Tiaguinho Nascimento hit a great ball. Luan Prado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Beto da Rocha got free with Jacinto Paraense in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Beto da Rocha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Jacinto Paraense made a huge save. Beto da Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacinto Paraense having to interfere. In the 92nd minute, Douglas Pires hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Santa Cruz booed when Desportiva Unida was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Douglas Pires didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee ended the match the Desportiva Unida players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
