César Duarte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Franklin Silva in the 11th minute of the match. Fernandinho Senna hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Orlando Pirates's César Duarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rubens de Salles in the 18th minute of play. César Duarte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rubens de Salles, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 26th minute of the match Didi de Souza shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but César Duarte showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Rubens de Salles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without César Duarte having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Imperial Nordeste F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Fernandinho Senna came free, but Mathias Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Róbson Magalhães could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Mathias Varela made a huge save. Mathias Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Pedro Ramos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gilvan Silveira kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Róbson Magalhães got free with Mathias Varela in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Róbson Magalhães received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Mathias Varela came out and tried to block the shot, but Róbson Magalhães slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 37th minute. In the 45th minute, Didi de Souza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Imperial Nordeste F.C. were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zé Pedro Ramos to strike the kick off in the second half. Betão Paiva hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Imperial Nordeste F.C.'s Didi de Souza got a free kick in the 53rd minute. 64 minutes into the match, Orlando Pirates's goal looked a bit too open when Rubens de Salles came free, but César Duarte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 73rd minute Rubens de Salles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but César Duarte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Orlando Pirates getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Fernandinho Senna hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Orlando Pirates's zone, Franklin Silva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. César Duarte came out of the goal and Franklin Silva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Imperial Nordeste F.C.'s players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
