The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Jerônimo Varela managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gil vicente's supporters rose to their feet, but Jerônimo Varela was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Célio Lago breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Célio Lago showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jerônimo Varela, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. 9 minutes into the match, Tucunupi FC's goal looked a bit too open when Vitinho Botelho came free, but Célio Lago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vitinho Botelho in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Célio Lago prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 12 minutes into the match, Jerônimo Varela notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Tucunupi FC's Célio Lago. Célio Lago was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 17 minutes, Frederico Paranaense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gil vicente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frederico Paranaense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Tucunupi FC's zone, Vitinho Botelho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Célio Lago came out of the goal and Vitinho Botelho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Célio Lago took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerônimo Varela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Tucunupi FC's Júnior Furlan got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Frederico Paranaense in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Carlos Arruda in the 29th minute of play forced Tucunupi FC's goalkeeper Célio Lago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 31 played minutes Tucunupi FC got a freekick which was hit by Juan Alcântara. Célio Lago took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frederico Paranaense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 33 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Jerônimo Varela sped through Tucunupi FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Célio Lago. Célio Lago stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jerônimo Varela's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. In the 40th minute Vitinho Botelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Célio Lago saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 40 played minutes Gil vicente got a freekick which was hit by Enio Tróia. If Vitinho Botelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tucunupi FC's Célio Lago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jerônimo Varela in the 44th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonas Borges in the 48th minute of play forced Tucunupi FC's goalkeeper Célio Lago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luiz Paulo Ramos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Jerônimo Varela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Célio Lago saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Célio Lago made an important save on a dangerous shot by Frederico Paranaense in the 53rd minute. 54 minutes into the match, Tucunupi FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jerônimo Varela came free, but Célio Lago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee showed Wanderson Koehler the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Tucunupi FC getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Wanderson Koehler hit a great ball. Gil vicente's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Rui Britto in the 66th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dráuzio Sanches in the 68th minute of play forced Tucunupi FC's goalkeeper Célio Lago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 68 minutes of play Tucunupi FC's Wanderson Koehler was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 69th minute, Wanderson Koehler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Frederico Paranaense came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Gil vicente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frederico Paranaense couldn't finish the play. 72 minutes into the match, Gil vicente's Jerônimo Varela sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Célio Lago narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Célio Lago made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vitinho Botelho in the 74th minute of play. In the 74th minute, Ronaldo Cabral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Gil vicente's Vitinho Botelho in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Tucunupi FC's goalie prevented a goal. Ronaldo Cabral's late challenge caught a Gil vicente's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ronaldo Cabral helped the player get up and apologised. Ronaldo Cabral hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Célio Lago showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jerônimo Varela, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Vitinho Botelho struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Célio Lago didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gil vicente. If Jerônimo Varela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerônimo Varela in the 92nd minute of play forced Tucunupi FC's goalkeeper Célio Lago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frederico Paranaense who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 93rdth minute tested the skills of Célio Lago when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Rômulo Lopez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Pombal in the 95th minute of play. Gil vicente played a much better game than Tucunupi FC and deserved their victory. The Tucunupi FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
