With a left leg Donato da Costa saved Guaraniuva from getting behind. Andrézinho Ferraz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Jânio Pires managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cavagnoli's supporters rose to their feet, but Jânio Pires was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donato da Costa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 13 played minutes Cavagnoli got a freekick which was hit by Valdemar de Souza. Cavagnoli's Waldir Lopez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardo Loyola in the 14th minute of play. If Alfredão Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 20 minutes, Alfredão Gomes took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Waldir Lopez to make any attempt to save it. Bernardo Loyola struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Waldir Lopez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guaraniuva. If Bernardo Loyola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Guaraniuva's Alfredão Gomes slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Waldir Lopez. That made the score 2-0 after 28 minutes of play. Alfredão Gomes in the 31stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Waldir Lopez, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Bernardo Loyola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jânio Pires to make the kick off. Bernardo Loyola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Waldir Lopez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Jânio Pires came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Cavagnoli fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jânio Pires couldn't finish the play. Bernardo Loyola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldir Lopez having to interfere. In the 88th minute, Horácio Sabóia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Guaraniuva were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
