The supporters of SC Corinthians Paulista booed when Vera Cruz FN was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leandro Godoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18th minute, Wilton Pereira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hélio Tepedino kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Rubinho Leal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Michel Peres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Michel Peres blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eusébio Carioca having to make a save. A collision led to Vera Cruz FN getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Luís Fábio Baiano hit a great ball. Michel Peres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusébio Carioca having to interfere. Vera Cruz FN's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Michel Peres 41 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-2. Tales Madureira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nestor Mendonça to strike the kick off in the second half. Rubinho Leal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Luizão Terra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Nelsinho Carvalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Rubinho Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luizão Terra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Mendonça in the 66th minute of play. After having played for 71 minutes, Michel Peres managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Corinthians Paulista's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michel Peres was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 82nd minute, Wilton Pereira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cido Arantes, 83 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Vera Cruz FN's Leandro Godoi got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpected shot in the 94th minute by Nestor Mendonça got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a defensive mix-up in SC Corinthians Paulista's zone, Nestor Mendonça stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luizão Terra came out of the goal and Nestor Mendonça tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vera Cruz FN's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
