Spectators: 7295 (Terracing: 5473, Seating: 1677, VIP seats: 145) Fernando Romano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vitório Baptista in the 7th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Buritama's Alessandro Souza threw himself towards the right post 8 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ivo Pinheiro, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Buritama booed when Guarulhos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilmar de Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Geraldo Viana kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. In the 19th minute, Vitório Baptista left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Guarulhos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After having played for 24 minutes, Vitório Baptista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guarulhos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vitório Baptista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 25 played minutes Guarulhos got a freekick which was hit by Nilmar de Alcântara. In the 26th minute, Ian Pimenta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Guarulhos's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Ivo Pinheiro 27 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. In the 33rd match minute, Guarulhos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geraldo Viana to maneuver through the defense. Ian Pimenta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alessandro Souza having to interfere. Ivo Pinheiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alessandro Souza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Guarulhos's zone, José Carlos Ferraz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alessandro Souza came out of the goal and José Carlos Ferraz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Guarulhos's Vitório Baptista got a free kick in the 43rd minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ivo Pinheiro to make the kick off. In a very dangerous position, a player in Guarulhos fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 55th minute. Penalty! Ivo Pinheiro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alessandro Souza having to make a save. If Ivo Pinheiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Guarulhos's zone, Gernando Ortiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alessandro Souza came out of the goal and Gernando Ortiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júnior Schmidt in the 69th minute of play forced Guarulhos's goalkeeper Alessandro Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ivo Pinheiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alessandro Souza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. The goalkeeper, Fernando Romano, was totally fooled by Guarulhos's Reinaldo Vidal, who 75 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Wanderson Munhoz's late challenge caught a Buritama's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wanderson Munhoz helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 85th minute of the game. One of Guarulhos:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Buritama:s goal. After having played for 93 minutes, Júnior Schmidt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Buritama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Júnior Schmidt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alessandro Souza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivo Pinheiro in the 101st minute of play. There was no doubt that Buritama were the better team. Buritama's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
