Luís Paulo Viana's late challenge caught a Guarulhos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luís Paulo Viana helped the player get up and apologised. Dé Koehler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aílton Falcão in the 27th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vitório Baptista in the 37th minute of play forced Araripe EC's goalkeeper Dé Koehler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Guarulhos's goalkeeper Alessandro Souza, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Aílton Falcãos short, quick shot in the 93rdth minute got Dé Koehler to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The crowd rose to their feet as Guarulhos's Aílton Falcão slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dé Koehler. That made the score 0-3 after 100 minutes of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Guarulhos had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
