The supporters of Quirinopolis booed when Portel F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diamantino Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Portel F.C.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 16th minute, when Perivaldo de Azevedo scored to the left of an out of position José Paiva, making the score, 1-0. 23 minutes into the match, Perivaldo de Azevedo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of José Paiva, 2-0. After having played for 25 minutes, Gernando Gonçalves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Portel F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Gernando Gonçalves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 28 minutes into the match, Portel F.C.'s goalkeeper José Paiva had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gernando Fonseca. If Gernando Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeremias Lara kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Quirinopolis's Sérgio Alvarenga shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 31st minute of play. The shot was stopped by José Paiva but with some difficulty. After a rather tough play, Portel F.C.'s Tostão Recife got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Perivaldo de Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. José Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38th match minute, Portel F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tostão Soeiro to maneuver through the defense. 40 minutes into the match, Gernando Gonçalves had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zeca Correia. Quirinopolis's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gernando Gonçalves was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. After 44 played minutes Portel F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Tostão Recife. The supporters of Quirinopolis booed when Portel F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diamantino Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Perivaldo de Azevedo was the one to do the kick off. José Paiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gernando Fonseca in the 52nd minute of the match. José Paiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gernando Fonseca in the 53rd minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, Portel F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Gernando Fonseca came free, but José Paiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Portel F.C. getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Jeremias Lara hit a great ball. Sérgio Alvarenga took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 59th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for José Paiva. Portel F.C.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With 64 minutes on the clock, Agostinho Fantini commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 63rd minute, one of Portel F.C.:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Portel F.C.. The supporters of Portel F.C. booed when Quirinopolis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fellipe Bezerra didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 75th minute of the game. One of Portel F.C.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Quirinopolis:s goal. Sérgio Alvarenga walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Luiz Paulo Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Douglas de Souza might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zeca Correia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Douglas de Souza ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, Quirinopolis's Zeca Correia got control of the ball when Luiz Paulo Monteiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 86th minute, Gernando Gonçalves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 87th minute, Sérgio Alvarenga sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Portel F.C.'s José Paiva didn't even have to move. After having played for 90 minutes, Douglas de Souza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
