With an extended leg and a bit of luck José Paiva prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 7 minutes into the game, Hortêncio Mendes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Portel F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Anajas the free kick. A collision led to Portel F.C. getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Hortêncio Mendes hit a great ball. Hortêncio Mendes was shown his second yellow card after 10 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Matheus Moura received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. José Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Agostinho Fantini kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Anajas's Lenílson Arce proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Anajas from getting a goal against them. In the 32nd minute Murilo Quintal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Paiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. José Paiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Carlos Moreira in the 47th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Murilo Quintal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tostão Recife in the 86th minute of play forced Anajas's goalkeeper Lenílson Arce to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
