Emílio Monteiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Paulo de Mendonça in the 14th minute of the match. Eriberto de Sousa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Ipitangueiros booed when SouPobre Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Paraense didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, SouPobre Futebol Clube's Acácio Vieira got a free kick in the 21st minute. 28 minutes into the game, Inácio Bezerra was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Claudinei Seco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ipitangueiros's Luiz Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Acácio Vieira in the 51st minute of play. Emílio Monteiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Inácio Bezerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Emílio Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 78 minutes into the game, Haroldo Paraense was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
