Luís Eduardo Fernandes hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. If Tostão Recife had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Grêmio F.B.P.A getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Waldir Antunes hit a great ball. In the 23rd minute Gilmar Eger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Paiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilmar Eger in the 25th minute of play forced Portel F.C.'s goalkeeper José Paiva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Grêmio F.B.P.A's Paulinho Camargo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Paulo Monteiro in the 30th minute of play. Wellington Abraão hit a great ball. In the 41st minute, Grêmio F.B.P.A's Wellington Abraão fired away a free kick that almost went in the goal. José Paiva was prepared for the shot, but didn't have to make a play as the shot flew over the goal. José Paiva made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Wellington Abraão sent off a good shot on target. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tostão Recife to strike the kick off in the second half. Douglas de Souza was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 57th minute. Portel F.C.'s manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. With a little luck, Grêmio F.B.P.A's Paulinho Camargo got control of the ball when Tostão Recife tried to sneak it across the goal line.
