After 3 played minutes Auxerre got a freekick which was hit by Falcão Guimarães. 10 minutes into the match, Chopeiro AD's goal looked a bit too open when Roberto Paraibano came free, but Paulo José Passos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roberto Paraibano in the 11th minute of play forced Chopeiro AD's goalkeeper Paulo José Passos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kléberson Torres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chopeiro AD's Paulo José Passos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kléberson Torres in the 22nd minute of play. Wilton Garcia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Sidnei Bittencourt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 26th minute, Kléberson Torres ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paulo José Passos was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 32nd minute Wilton Garcia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sidnei Bittencourt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Wilton Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zé Paulo Fantini got free with Sidnei Bittencourt in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 40 minutes into the match, Chopeiro AD's goal looked a bit too open when Kléberson Torres came free, but Paulo José Passos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Roberto Paraibano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sidnei Bittencourt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton Garcia in the 45th minute of play. Wilton Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidnei Bittencourt having to interfere.

54 minutes into the match, Chopeiro AD's goalkeeper Paulo José Passos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kléberson Torres. After some careless play in the Auxerre defense, Zé Paulo Fantini kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sidnei Bittencourt. The Auxerre fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sidnei Bittencourt should have stopped the shot. After having played for 66 minutes, Kléberson Torres managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Auxerre's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kléberson Torres was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rony Vinhas charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rony Vinhas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Chopeiro AD getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Rony Vinhas hit a great ball. Tiago Loyola kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Auxerre's zone, Zé Paulo Fantini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sidnei Bittencourt came out of the goal and Zé Paulo Fantini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paulo José Passos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kléberson Torres in the 79th minute. In the 81st minute of the match Haroldo de Almeida shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paulo José Passos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Chopeiro AD getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Rony Vinhas hit a great ball. Roberto Paraibano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 87 played minutes Chopeiro AD got a freekick which was hit by Tiago Loyola. Roberto Paraibano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 92 minutes of play, Chopeiro AD's Wilton Garcia made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sidnei Bittencourt was left in no man's land by his defense there! Auxerre's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
