The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the game, Alcance Futebol Clube's Giuseppe Mattos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sydney Berger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Delfim Alcântara in the 8th minute of play. 14 minutes into the match, Zequinha's goal looked a bit too open when Delfim Alcântara came free, but Sydney Berger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sydney Berger made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Giuseppe Mattos sent off a good shot on target. Zequinha's Sydney Berger proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Zequinha from getting a goal against them. Zequinha's Sydney Berger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Delfim Alcântara in the 25th minute of play. In the 26th minute Sílvio Luiz Hoffmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sydney Berger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 30 minutes into the match, Zequinha's goalkeeper Sydney Berger had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Giuseppe Mattos. Giuseppe Mattos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Sydney Berger made a huge save. Sydney Berger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aloísio Berger in the 35th minute of play. Delfim Alcântara might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sydney Berger. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Delfim Alcântara ran back to his position shaking his head. Sydney Berger made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sílvio Luiz Hoffmann in the 38th minute. Sydney Berger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aloísio Berger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sydney Berger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Delfim Alcântara in the 41st minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Delfim Alcântara kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sydney Berger. That made the score 2-0 in the 45 minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Eusébio Moraes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Luís Maranhense having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Delfim Alcântara in the 74th minute of play forced Zequinha's goalkeeper Sydney Berger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sydney Berger came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by Alcance Futebol Clube's Sílvio Luiz Hoffmann. But to his dismay, Sílvio Luiz Hoffmann quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. In the 79th minute Giuseppe Mattos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sydney Berger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Zequinha defense, Aloísio Berger kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sydney Berger. The Zequinha fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sydney Berger should have stopped the shot. Sydney Berger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Delfim Alcântara, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Zequinha's Sydney Berger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giuseppe Mattos in the 85th minute of play. Valdir Moraes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 93rd minute of the match Valdo Gaúcho shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sydney Berger showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After having played for 94 minutes, Delfim Alcântara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alcance Futebol Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Delfim Alcântara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. There was no doubt that Alcance Futebol Clube were the better team. Alcance Futebol Clube's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
