Sidnei Bittencourt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sandrinho Matos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luís Fabiano Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidnei Bittencourt having to interfere. Club Sportivo Sergipe may have spent more time on the ball, but Auxerre were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
