Gláuber Aguiar dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Gláuber de Brito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. César Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gláuber de Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gláuber Aguiar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tarcisio Tande in the 20th minute of play. In the 22nd minute Valdemar Lira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gláuber Aguiar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Mangue's Nelsinho Galvão got a free kick in the 22nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Mangue's zone, Gláuber de Brito stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. César Barros came out of the goal and Gláuber de Brito tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. José Pedro de Godoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without César Barros having to interfere. 29 minutes into the match, Liverpool de Salvador's goal looked a bit too open when Valdemar Lira came free, but Gláuber Aguiar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Mangue getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Matías Negri hit a great ball. Liverpool de Salvador's Gláuber Aguiar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdemar Lira in the 38th minute of play. When Liverpool de Salvador's José Pedro de Godoi in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. César Barros acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 45th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Fabiano Medeiros. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tarcisio Tande made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Mangue's Matías Negri got a free kick in the 52nd minute. César Barros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Pedro de Godoi, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. César Barros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gláuber de Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Valdemar Lira succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-2 in the 58th playminute. 67 minutes into the match, Mangue's goal looked a bit too open when Gláuber de Brito came free, but César Barros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 68 minutes into the match, José Pedro de Godoi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of César Barros. Mangue's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that José Pedro de Godoi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valdemar Lira got free with Gláuber Aguiar in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gláuber de Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Liverpool de Salvador lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
