SHELSEA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palestra Itália EC the free kick. After 5 played minutes SHELSEA got a freekick which was hit by Armando Simão. In the 11th minute, SHELSEA's Rodrigo Mendonça ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Robinho Hoffmann. Robinho Hoffmann yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 16th minute Wilton Sergipano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hortêncio Netto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Naldo Tasso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rodrigo Mendonça's late challenge caught a Palestra Itália EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rodrigo Mendonça helped the player get up and apologised. Rodrigo Mendonça kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the game, Dino Simões lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Robinho Hoffmann. After a rather tough play, SHELSEA's Osvaldo Arantes got a free kick in the 24th minute. Naldo Tasso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hortêncio Netto having to interfere. 32 minutes into the match, Palestra Itália EC's goalkeeper Robinho Hoffmann had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dino Simões. Dino Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Robinho Hoffmann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armando Simão in the 39th minute of play. Armando Simão was extremely unlucky when he, in the 40th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Robinho Hoffmann made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Dino Simões sent off a good shot on target. Robinho Hoffmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 44 minutes, Naldo Tasso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palestra Itália EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Naldo Tasso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Osvaldo Arantes fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SHELSEA's protests and gave Osvaldo Arantes a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Palestra Itália EC booed when SHELSEA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldo Arantes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the SHELSEA defense, Naldo Tasso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hortêncio Netto. The SHELSEA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hortêncio Netto should have stopped the shot. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The wind increased when Armando Simão made the kick off in the second half. Eliseu Queiroz charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eliseu Queiroz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 62nd match minute, Palestra Itália EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseu Queiroz to maneuver through the defense. Armando Simão took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 63rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Robinho Hoffmann. Palestra Itália EC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 72 played minutes Palestra Itália EC got a freekick which was hit by Naldo Tasso. In the 73rd minute Armando Simão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robinho Hoffmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Olavo Dante during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of SHELSEA booed when Palestra Itália EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olavo Dante didn't get a good kick on the ball. Palestra Itália EC's Robinho Hoffmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dino Simões in the 91st minute of play. With his leg Hortêncio Netto managed to avoid a goal in the 96thth minute, when Palestra Itália EC's Wilton Sergipano fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Wilton Sergipanos short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Hortêncio Netto to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Rodrigo Mendonça kicked well hit freekick during the 98th minute of the match. When the referee ended the match the SHELSEA players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
