Rubinho Coelho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 13 minutes into the match, Palestra Itália EC's Naldo Tasso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rubinho Coelho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hortêncio Quintal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robinho Hoffmann having to interfere. 18 minutes into the match, Palestra Itália EC's goal looked a bit too open when Hortêncio Quintal came free, but Robinho Hoffmann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 19th minute Wilton Sergipano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubinho Coelho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mariola's Rubinho Coelho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Naldo Tasso in the 23rd minute of play. Hortêncio Quintal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robinho Hoffmann having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hortêncio Quintal in the 28th minute of play forced Palestra Itália EC's goalkeeper Robinho Hoffmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes into the game, Luís Fabiano Paes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palestra Itália EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mariola the free kick. A collision led to Palestra Itália EC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Luís Fabiano Paes hit a great ball. In the 32nd minute Hortêncio Quintal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robinho Hoffmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Silvério Leal who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 34thth minute tested the skills of Robinho Hoffmann when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Hortêncio Quintal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robinho Hoffmann read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Nildo Diniz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 37th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rubinho Coelho. Mariola's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of Palestra Itália EC booed when Mariola was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredinho Campidelis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hortêncio Quintal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. One of Mariola:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Palestra Itália EC:s goal. Silvério Leal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Robinho Hoffmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Mariola supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Palestra Itália EC's performance. The match ended with a win for Palestra Itália EC.
