But to his dismay, Iuri Guimarães quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. David Veiga charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed David Veiga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. David Veiga kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. In the 26th match minute, Manituba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Augusto Vinhas to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Manituba's Emanuel Souto got a free kick in the 30th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sydney Zanette in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nilson Velasco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ivo Bergers short, quick shot in the 36thth minute got Nilson Velasco to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Ivo Berger who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 40thth minute tested the skills of Nilson Velasco when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The referee showed José Augusto Vinhas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Carioca EC booed when Manituba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Augusto Vinhas didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Breno Koehler was the one to do the kick off. Ivo Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Breno Koehler got free with Elias de Moraes in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Manituba's Nilson Velasco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iuri Guimarães in the 57th minute of play. David Veiga scored 4-0 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nilson Velasco, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nilson Velasco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivo Berger, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute.
