With a little luck, Phantásticos FC's Duarte Saldanha got control of the ball when Luiz Freitas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Duarte Saldanha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sydney Zanette in the 16th minute of the match. 20 minutes into the match, Phantásticos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sydney Zanette came free, but Duarte Saldanha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sydney Zanette sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. David Veiga might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Duarte Saldanha. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. David Veiga ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 33rd minute, Carioca EC's Sydney Zanette dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. If Thomás Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Edmundo Félix fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Phantásticos FC's protests and gave Edmundo Félix a yellow card for diving instead. Edmundo Félix kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Duarte Saldanha made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Ivo Berger sent off a good shot on target. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ivo Berger stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Claudinei Salles kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Sydney Zanette sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When David Veiga came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Carioca EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that David Veiga couldn't finish the play. Thomás Mendes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sydney Zanette took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Duarte Saldanha. Duarte Saldanha dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Ivo Berger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duarte Saldanha having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivo Berger in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Duarte Saldanha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Carioca EC booed when Phantásticos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edmundo Félix didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Phantásticos FC's zone, Sydney Zanette stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duarte Saldanha came out of the goal and Sydney Zanette tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Carioca EC booed when Phantásticos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christiano de Queiroz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 77 minutes had been played when some careless play by Phantásticos FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Raí Madureira was slow to take the kick. During this time Carioca EC's players had a chance to rest. Carioca EC's Raí Madureira was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Duarte Saldanha in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Raí Madureira's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Duarte Saldanha - 3-0 was put on the score board in the 77th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Jonas Ceresso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carioca EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jonas Ceresso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Duarte Saldanha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. David Veiga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Duarte Saldanha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Iuri Guimarães recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Carioca EC's David Veiga got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Ivo Berger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Duarte Saldanha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carioca EC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
