After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Ivo Berger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carioca EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ivo Berger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Alberto Travassos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. New Life's Carlos Alberto Travassos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivo Berger in the 22nd minute of play. Carlos Alberto Travassos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iuri Guimarães, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, New Life's Ricardo Trevisan got a free kick in the 29th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, David Veiga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carioca EC's supporters rose to their feet, but David Veiga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Carlos Alberto Travassos. Iuri Guimarães in the 75thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Carlos Alberto Travassos, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Luiz Freitas struck a weak shot in the 84th minute.
