Santos FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Baltazar Linhares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dedê Barbosa in the 13th minute of play forced FDS CLUB's goalkeeper Sydney Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FDS CLUB's Sydney Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dedê Barbosa in the 15th minute of play. When Santos FC's Dedê Barbosa in 16 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Sydney Neves guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Sydney Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

After a rather tough play, FDS CLUB's Diego Cruz got a free kick in the 51st minute. When Luizinho Freitas came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Santos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luizinho Freitas couldn't finish the play. 57 minutes into the match, FDS CLUB's goal looked a bit too open when Dedê Barbosa came free, but Sydney Neves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dedê Barbosa in the 62nd minute of play forced FDS CLUB's goalkeeper Sydney Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dedê Barbosa struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Sydney Neves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santos FC. In the 70th minute, Baltazar Linhares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a good free kick, Baltazar Linhares got an opportunity to smash the ball into the goal, but unfortunately, the ball went just outside the goal, which resulted in a goal kick for FDS CLUB. Santos FC's Baltazar Linhares got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sydney Neves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Geovanni Monteiro got free with Kléber Barral in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Baltazar Linhares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Sydney Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Santos FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
