Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Paulo da Rocha made the kick off and thus started the match. 2 minutes into the game, Danilo Gerber was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lapa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mamutes F.C. the free kick. Danilo Gerber hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Mamutes F.C.'s Gonçalo Catarinense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edu Marquez in the 7th minute of play. Sérgio Urbano came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Mamutes F.C.'s Paulo da Rocha. But to his dismay, Paulo da Rocha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Edu Marquez received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gonçalo Catarinense came out and tried to block the shot, but Edu Marquez slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 18th minute. Carlos Cabral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gonçalo Catarinense having to interfere. 28 minutes into the match, Lapa's Carlos Cabral sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gonçalo Catarinense narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 30th minute of the match Lapa got a corner. Mamutes F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gugu Braga ran over to the corner to take the kick. Mamutes F.C.'s Gonçalo Catarinense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Mamutes F.C. from getting a goal against them. Gonçalo Catarinense stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Cabral's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Gonçalo Catarinense stood somewhat misplaced when Carlos Cabral came free in front of goal and shot 2-2 to the left of him in the 38 minute. If Carlos Cabral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 44 minutes, Carlos Cabral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lapa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Cabral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carlos Cabral stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gonçalo Catarinense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Cabral in the 52nd minute of play. Edu Marquez might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gonçalo Catarinense. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edu Marquez ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Lapa's Danilo Gerber got a free kick in the 57th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Paulo da Rocha kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sérgio Urbano. That made the score 2-3 in the 61 minute of play. In the 65th minute, Gugu Braga left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lapa fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. In the 69th match minute, Mamutes F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Umberto Linhares to maneuver through the defense. Gonçalo Catarinense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Pedro Cardozo in the 70th minute of play. If Carlos Cabral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 74 minutes, Telmo Arruda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mamutes F.C. and the Lapa players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Lapa booed when Mamutes F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Telmo Arruda didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mamutes F.C.'s goalkeeper Gonçalo Catarinense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 76 minutes of play, Lapa's Carlos Cabral made it 4-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gonçalo Catarinense was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Cabral in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gonçalo Catarinense prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Claudinei Lucas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gonçalo Catarinense having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Carlos Cabral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gonçalo Catarinense was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Cabral in the 89th minute of play forced Mamutes F.C.'s goalkeeper Gonçalo Catarinense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gonçalo Catarinense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Cabral in the 92nd minute of the match. Lapa walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
