If Edu Marquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Artur Gonçalves made an important save on a dangerous shot by José Pedro Cardozo in the 46th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carlos Cabral stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lapa were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Barcelona's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gugu Braga took the corner. Carlos Cabral blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Artur Gonçalves having to make a save. Jeferson Prata recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Artur Gonçalves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Cabral in the 58th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Carlos Cabral put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of Artur Gonçalves. Carlos Cabral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artur Gonçalves having to interfere. If Carlos Cabral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dorival Silveira in the 73rd minute of play forced Barcelona's goalkeeper Artur Gonçalves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Artur Gonçalves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ulisses Silva in the 75th minute of play. After 76 played minutes Barcelona got a freekick which was hit by Evaristo Gaúcho. Carlos Cabral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Evaristo Gaúcho was shown his second yellow card after 90 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Carlos Cabral blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Artur Gonçalves having to make a save. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Lapa had played much better football throughout.
