With an extended leg and a bit of luck Francisco Reis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Caco da Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aírton Esteves succeeded in the game's 32nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Marquinhos Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Iutica's supporters rose to their feet, but Marquinhos Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Francisco Reis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Francisco Reis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cléber Cunha in the 42nd minute of play. Marquinhos Castro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Francisco Reis made a huge save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cléber Cunha was the one to do the kick off. Iutica's Délio Leme proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Iutica from getting a goal against them.
