Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Candial's Aírton Esteves in the 20th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Baltazar Maia was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for ATREVIDOS F.C through an amazing save. Baltazar Maia came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Candial's Caco da Rocha. But to his dismay, Caco da Rocha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Dênis Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Reis having to interfere. Francisco Reis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Fernando Alagoano, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Francisco Reis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dênis Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Caco da Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 40 minutes into the game, José Vítor Cerezo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ATREVIDOS F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Candial the free kick. After 40 played minutes ATREVIDOS F.C got a freekick which was hit by José Vítor Cerezo. After a defensive mix-up in ATREVIDOS F.C's zone, Aírton Esteves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Baltazar Maia came out of the goal and Aírton Esteves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dênis Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Reis having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Júlio Massa's late challenge caught a ATREVIDOS F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The goalkeeper, Francisco Reis, was totally fooled by ATREVIDOS F.C's Sidney Guerra, who 58 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 62nd minute Dênis Rocha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Reis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Caco da Rocha came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Candial fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caco da Rocha couldn't finish the play. ATREVIDOS F.C's Baltazar Maia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aírton Esteves in the 69th minute of play. Caco da Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
