After 8 played minutes, Manchester Cic's Oswaldo Martins shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Joélson Castro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Manchester Cic reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hudson Correia in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joélson Castro saved Clube Atlético Gaúcho from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hudson Correia in the 11th minute of play forced Clube Atlético Gaúcho's goalkeeper Joélson Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 13th minute, Bengt Johnsson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Manchester Cic fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Bengt Johnsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Manchester Cic booed when Clube Atlético Gaúcho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lino Couto didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 19th minute, Manchester Cic's Mário Lago ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Joélson Castro. Joélson Castro yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. After 22 played minutes Clube Atlético Gaúcho got a freekick which was hit by Lino Couto. A hard shot by João Arósio from long distance, 23 minutes into the match, got Joélson Castro's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Fellipe de Lara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Joélson Castro made a huge save. With a little luck, Clube Atlético Gaúcho's Joélson Castro got control of the ball when Fellipe de Lara tried to sneak it across the goal line. Manchester Cic's Juan Blasco got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Joélson Castro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hudson Correia went, in the 30th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. In the 32nd minute, Anderson Cruz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joélson Castro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hudson Correia's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Mário Lago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Joélson Castro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joélson Castro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hudson Correia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manchester Cic's João Arósio shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 47th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Joélson Castro but with some difficulty. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Clube Atlético Gaúcho's Joélson Castro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fellipe de Lara in the 55th minute of play. Joélson Castro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hudson Correia in the 60th minute of the match. 62 minutes into the match, Clube Atlético Gaúcho's goal looked a bit too open when Bengt Johnsson came free, but Joélson Castro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a left leg Joélson Castro saved Clube Atlético Gaúcho from getting behind. 80 minutes into the match, Clube Atlético Gaúcho's goal looked a bit too open when Fellipe de Lara came free, but Joélson Castro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 84 played minutes Manchester Cic got a freekick which was hit by Fellipe de Lara. In the 92nd minute, Bengt Johnsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jaime Gomes hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match. When the referee ended the match the Manchester Cic players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
