Spectators: 7230 (Terracing: 5424, Seating: 1663, VIP seats: 143) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. André Neiva made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Gilbert Coussement sent off a good shot on target. Erivaldo Chaves scored 1-0 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of André Neiva, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 15 minutes, Gilbert Coussement managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Riachinho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilbert Coussement was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gilbert Coussement got free with André Neiva in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paulo José Aparecido hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Pernambuco AD's André Neiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erivaldo Chaves in the 68th minute of play.
