Sans Souci F.C's Glauco Neiva got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 25th match minute, Port Vale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Noel Massa to maneuver through the defense. When Benê Fonseca came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Sans Souci F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benê Fonseca couldn't finish the play. After 39 played minutes Port Vale got a freekick which was hit by Noel Massa. Benê Fonseca recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alex de Mendonça stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A hard shot 52 in the game by Luís da Mata from a close distance when the talented Ediberto Bittencourt managed to make a qualified save. Sans Souci F.C's players were relieved. After a rather tough play, Sans Souci F.C's Benê Pena got a free kick in the 52nd minute. 53 minutes into the game, Port Vale's Luís da Mata nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ediberto Bittencourt made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Ediberto Bittencourt made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Luís da Mata sent off a good shot on target. 59 minutes into the match, Sans Souci F.C's goalkeeper Ediberto Bittencourt had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luís da Mata. Miguel Salgado's late challenge caught a Sans Souci F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Miguel Salgado helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Sans Souci F.C booed when Port Vale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Salgado didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Benê Pena managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sans Souci F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Benê Pena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Júlio Sampaio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Benê Fonseca's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Júlio Sampaio was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Benê Fonseca recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match clock showed 74 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Benê Fonseca sped through Port Vale's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Júlio Sampaio. The supporters of Port Vale booed when Sans Souci F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adilson Rezende didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 81st minute, Port Vale's Alex de Mendonça ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ediberto Bittencourt. Ediberto Bittencourt yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. The crowd rose to their feet as Alex de Mendonça kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ediberto Bittencourt. That made the score 1-4 in the 85 minute of play. 95 minutes into the game, Breno Neiva cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-5. Ediberto Bittencourt was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Sans Souci F.C manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Port Vale to win.
