Doni Paes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Doni Paes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guilherme Goiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Doni Paes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benê Queirós in the 33rd minute of the match. Danúbio's Benê Queirós got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 45 minutes into the match, Danúbio's goalkeeper Juvenal Linares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lúcio Leal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Benê Queirós who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 52ndth minute tested the skills of Doni Paes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Taquaral's Lúcio Leal, in the 55th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Taquaral. In the 61st match minute, Taquaral was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Duarte Mattos to maneuver through the defense.
