The referee ignored Ultra sub-18's protests and gave Anísio Paiva a yellow card for diving instead. After 6 played minutes Ultra sub-18 got a freekick which was hit by Anísio Paiva. Duarte Mattos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Taquaral's zone, Anísio Paiva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Doni Paes came out of the goal and Anísio Paiva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Taquaral booed when Ultra sub-18 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamin Toledo didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The wind increased when Duarte Mattos made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Lúcio Leal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Taquaral's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ultra sub-18 the free kick. After a rather tough play, Taquaral's Lúcio Leal got a free kick in the 53rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Lúcio Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Taquaral's supporters rose to their feet, but Lúcio Leal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
