Spectators: 7231 (Terracing: 5425, Seating: 1663, VIP seats: 143) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Duarte Mattos took the kick off in the first half of the match. When Celtic Sport Clube's Caco Abreu in the 3rd minute got a chance for a shot 3rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Taquaral's goalie prevented a goal. Doni Paes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Thiago de Castro went, in the 6th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 16th minute Caco Abreu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doni Paes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Percival Baiano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lúcio Leal in the 17th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caco Abreu in the 22nd minute of play forced Taquaral's goalkeeper Doni Paes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Taquaral's Doni Paes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caco Abreu in the 23rd minute of play. A collision led to Celtic Sport Clube getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Thiago de Castro hit a great ball. Percival Baiano was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Duarte Mattos showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 27 minute of play. Lúcio Leal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Percival Baiano made a huge save. The supporters of Celtic Sport Clube booed when Taquaral was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lúcio Leal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Doni Paes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco Abreu in the 38th minute of play. Doni Paes came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Celtic Sport Clube's Caco Abreu. But to his dismay, Caco Abreu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Percival Baiano made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Lúcio Leal sent off a good shot on target. Through an outstanding action, after 45 minutes, Percival Baiano successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After the first half Celtic Sport Clube were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Caco Abreu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Oscar Pires sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Augusto Arantes might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Doni Paes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Augusto Arantes ran back to his position shaking his head. Thiago de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Caco Abreu struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Doni Paes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Celtic Sport Clube. Celtic Sport Clube's Carlos Augusto Arantes got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Taquaral's zone, Caco Abreu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Doni Paes came out of the goal and Caco Abreu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Percival Baiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Duarte Mattos, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Caco Abreu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Doni Paes made a huge save. Carlos Augusto Arantes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doni Paes having to interfere. After 64 minutes, Norberto Berger mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Taquaral and the Celtic Sport Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Taquaral's Norberto Berger got a free kick in the 64th minute. Caco Abreu's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 65thth minute, Doni Paes skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Caco Abreu might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Doni Paes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Caco Abreu ran back to his position shaking his head. When Caco Abreu came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Celtic Sport Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caco Abreu couldn't finish the play. In the 71st minute, Caco Abreu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carlos Augusto Arantes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 74 minutes, Thiago de Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Celtic Sport Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thiago de Castro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After taking down the ball on Celtic Sport Clube's corner Fernando Dracena fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Doni Paes quite easily take care of the ball. When Caco Abreu came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Celtic Sport Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caco Abreu couldn't finish the play. Doni Paes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronaldo de Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
