Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Duarte Mattos took the kick off in the first half of the match. Fernando Dracena kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. In the 9th minute Lúcio Leal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Percival Baiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Taquaral booed when Celtic Sport Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Augusto Arantes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Percival Baiano came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Taquaral's Duarte Mattos. But to his dismay, Duarte Mattos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. With a little luck, Taquaral's Doni Paes got control of the ball when Caco Abreu tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 18 minutes of play, Celtic Sport Clube's Caco Abreu made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Doni Paes was left in no man's land by his defense there! 21 minutes into the match, Celtic Sport Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Lúcio Leal came free, but Percival Baiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Caco Abreu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 24thth minute tested the skills of Doni Paes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Thiago de Castro struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Doni Paes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Celtic Sport Clube. Nelson Salgado kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. After having played for 33 minutes, Caco Abreu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Celtic Sport Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Caco Abreu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 38 minutes, Caco Abreu made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Taquaral's Doni Paes tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Oscar Pires managed to get in a good position for a shot. Celtic Sport Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Oscar Pires was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Doni Paes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Celtic Sport Clube's Caco Abreu got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Lúcio Leal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Percival Baiano was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. Caco Abreu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 48thth minute tested the skills of Doni Paes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Caco Abreu was the one to do the kick off. Celtic Sport Clube's Percival Baiano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Celtic Sport Clube from getting a goal against them. If Caco Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st minute Caco Abreu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doni Paes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 63 minutes, Caco Abreu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Celtic Sport Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Caco Abreu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lúcio Leal might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Percival Baiano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lúcio Leal ran back to his position shaking his head. Doni Paes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Durvalino Magalhães, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. In the 72ndth minute of the game Caco Abreu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Taquaral's Doni Paes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Caco Abreu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Doni Paes was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. When Durvalino Magalhães came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Celtic Sport Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Durvalino Magalhães couldn't finish the play. Durvalino Magalhães recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Caco Abreu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Doni Paes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 83rd minute, Norberto Berger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 89 minutes had been played when some careless play by Taquaral's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Fernando Dracena was slow to take the kick. During this time Celtic Sport Clube's players had a chance to rest. Celtic Sport Clube's Fernando Dracena was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Doni Paes in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Doni Paes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Caco Abreu's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. If Caco Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 96 minutes, Caco Abreu put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Doni Paes. Celtic Sport Clube walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
