The referee ignored Marineiro AD's protests and gave Alessandro Neves a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Marineiro AD getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Alessandro Neves hit a great ball. Emanuel Vides fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kiko Vale having to interfere. 24 minutes into the match, Anne Dieu-le-Veut's goal looked a bit too open when Celsinho da Silva came free, but Kiko Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Caio Zanette had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomé Mazza stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Velloso's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. Fellipe Linhares might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kiko Vale. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fellipe Linhares ran back to his position shaking his head. Kiko Vale was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
