Benjamim Furlan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Anselmo Paraibano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of João Augusto Porto's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. João Augusto Porto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anselmo Paraibano having to interfere. Anselmo Paraibano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benjamim Furlan, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 23rd minute Benjamim Furlan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anselmo Paraibano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, S.C. Corinthians Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when João Augusto Porto came free, but Anselmo Paraibano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lúcio Monteiro's late challenge caught a 4 E V E R T O N's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lúcio Monteiro helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, S.C. Corinthians Paulista's Lúcio Monteiro got a free kick in the 26th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Maurinho Sampaio was the one to do the kick off. In the 56th minute Nilson Cruz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jefferson Machado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. During the 56th minute of the match Lúcio Monteiro completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Lúcio Monteiro a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to S.C. Corinthians Paulista getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Lúcio Monteiro hit a great ball. In the 58th minute, Benjamim Furlan fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 4 E V E R T O N's Jefferson Machado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nilson Cruz in the 63rd minute of play. If João Augusto Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nilson Cruz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rui Abraão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Agostinho Leão's late challenge caught a S.C. Corinthians Paulista's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Agostinho Leão helped the player get up and apologised. In the 82nd match minute, 4 E V E R T O N was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agostinho Leão to maneuver through the defense.
