The audience thought a goal was coming when Armandinho de Barros got free with Wellington Toledo in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 7th minute, Evandro Queiroz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Leonel Pontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elano de Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afonsinho Barral, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Afonsinho Barral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elano de Carvalho having to interfere. 24 minutes into the match, Afonsinho Barral had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elano de Carvalho. Vrau AxT's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Afonsinho Barral was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. If Afonsinho Barral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Vrau AxT getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Pedro Luiz da Fonseca hit a great ball. Elano de Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonel Pontes, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. 41 minutes into the match, Vrau AxT's goal looked a bit too open when Afonsinho Barral came free, but Elano de Carvalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wellington Toledo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Armandinho de Barros in the 43rd minute. When Evandro Queiroz fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itapoa's protests and gave Evandro Queiroz a yellow card for diving instead. Evandro Queiroz kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After having played for 47 minutes, Armandinho de Barros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vrau AxT's supporters crossed their fingers, but Armandinho de Barros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Itapoa were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 58th match minute, Vrau AxT was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Régis Nogueira to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot 60 in the game by Afonsinho Barral from a close distance when the talented Elano de Carvalho managed to make a qualified save. Vrau AxT's players were relieved. If Leonel Pontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leonel Pontes in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elano de Carvalho saved Vrau AxT from getting behind. Pedro Luiz da Fonseca hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. After 71 minutes, Pedro Luiz da Fonseca mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vrau AxT and the Itapoa players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Itapoa booed when Vrau AxT was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Luiz da Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. Afonsinho Barral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Elano de Carvalho made a huge save. After having played for 75 minutes, Leonel Pontes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itapoa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leonel Pontes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. José Carlos Terra's late challenge caught a Vrau AxT's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leonel Pontes in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elano de Carvalho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Norberto Gonçalves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vrau AxT's supporters rose to their feet, but Norberto Gonçalves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wellington Toledo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Wellington Toledo came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Vrau AxT's Armandinho de Barros. But to his dismay, Armandinho de Barros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Itapoa eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
