In the 9th minute, Róbson Falcão left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GRÊMIO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. If Rodri Gol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. GRÊMIO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ademar Sarmento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Humberto Trevisan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rodri Gol's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. 42 minutes into the match, GRÊMIO's Rodri Gol sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Humberto Trevisan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Humberto Trevisan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ademar Sarmento in the 44th minute. Sydney Valladares hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Geovani Berger stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Kléberson Coelho was a little too slow when Frank Hermes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 54th minute. The score was now 1-1. Rodri Gol fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Trevisan having to interfere. In the 60th minute, Rodri Gol left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GRÊMIO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Geovani Berger received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Kléberson Coelho came out and tried to block the shot, but Geovani Berger slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 65th minute. In the 73rdth minute of the game Rodri Gol who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Macacas SC's Humberto Trevisan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Macacas SC's Aloísio Pinho got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. GRÊMIO's Kléberson Coelho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Hermes in the 85th minute of play. If Róbson Falcão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodri Gol in the 91st minute of play forced Macacas SC's goalkeeper Humberto Trevisan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Macacas SC's Sydney Valladares got a free kick in the 95th minute. When the referee ended the match the GRÊMIO players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
