The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Kléberson Coelho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Virgilio Blum's shot from short distance in the 3rd minute. Rafael Schmidt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rodri Gol in the 5th minute. Kléberson Coelho came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Liga Palhocense's Geovânio Rodrigues. But to his dismay, Geovânio Rodrigues quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 9th minute, Tiago Galvão ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kléberson Coelho was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. GRÊMIO's Kléberson Coelho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geovânio Rodrigues in the 12th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Marciano Lia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geovânio Rodrigues in the 15th minute of play forced GRÊMIO's goalkeeper Kléberson Coelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When GRÊMIO's Rodri Gol in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Liga Palhocense's goalie prevented a goal. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Virgilio Blum was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, GRÊMIO's goalkeeper Kléberson Coelho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Geovânio Rodrigues. Kléberson Coelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tiago Galvão in the 53rd minute of play. Antônio Carlos Marquez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 58 minutes into the match, GRÊMIO's Rodri Gol sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rafael Schmidt narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Liga Palhocense getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Geovânio Rodrigues hit a great ball. Kléberson Coelho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Virgilio Blum, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rodri Gol in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rafael Schmidt prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 68th minute, Rodri Gol hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 72nd minute, Ademar Sarmento made a precise shot to the right of Rafael Schmidt. Liga Palhocense's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Rodri Gol charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rodri Gol the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 80th match minute, Liga Palhocense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leandro Linares to maneuver through the defense. In the 81st minute of the match, Virgilio Blum tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Kléberson Coelho saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Kléberson Coelho didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tiago Galvão went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-4 was the resulting score. Kléberson Coelho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgilio Blum, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 88 played minutes Liga Palhocense got a freekick which was hit by Augusto Larra. In the 93rd minute Virgilio Blum shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kléberson Coelho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Liga Palhocense's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
