A very good chance. 19 minutes into the match, Caucaia FC's goalkeeper Reynaldo Vinhas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Décio Arce. After 22 played minutes Caucaia FC got a freekick which was hit by Dedé Luz. Nestor Moreira kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Décio Arce let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 25th minute shot 3-0 at rihgt post. In the 28thth minute of the game Flávio Messias who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Caucaia FC's Reynaldo Vinhas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Flávio Messias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grêmio Footbaal PA's supporters rose to their feet, but Flávio Messias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Reynaldo Vinhas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 31 minutes into the match, Caucaia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Flávio Messias came free, but Reynaldo Vinhas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 33rd minute, Grêmio Footbaal PA's Flávio Messias ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Reynaldo Vinhas. Reynaldo Vinhas yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-0. With his leg Reynaldo Vinhas managed to avoid a goal in the 37thth minute, when Grêmio Footbaal PA's Décio Arce fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.

Grêmio Footbaal PA's Telmo Meirelles was substituted for Flávio Messias. Grêmio Footbaal PA made a substitution. Serginho Arantes replaced Lauro Quirino. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Décio Arce stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Caucaia FC's zone, Décio Arce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reynaldo Vinhas came out of the goal and Décio Arce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Caucaia FC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Bruninho Guerra hit a great ball. In the 64th minute of the match Yan Donato shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Reynaldo Vinhas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Reynaldo Vinhas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Telmo Meirelles in the 65th minute of play. Telmo Meirelles struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Reynaldo Vinhas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grêmio Footbaal PA. In the 73rd minute, Dedé Luz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Caucaia FC's Reynaldo Vinhas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Décio Arce in the 74th minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Grêmio Footbaal PA fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 74th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 77 minutes, Caucaia FC's Guto Barbosa got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Luís Fernando Pereira. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Serginho Arantes in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Reynaldo Vinhas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Caucaia FC's Dedé Luz got a free kick in the 85th minute. Serginho Arantes scored 7-1 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Reynaldo Vinhas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Serginho Arantes in the 91st minute of play forced Caucaia FC's goalkeeper Reynaldo Vinhas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Elivélton Coutinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Reynaldo Vinhas was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. When Serginho Arantes came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Grêmio Footbaal PA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Serginho Arantes couldn't finish the play. 99 minutes into the match, Caucaia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Serginho Arantes came free, but Reynaldo Vinhas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yan Donato received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 100th minute. Reynaldo Vinhas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Grêmio Footbaal PA's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
