When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Augusto Queiroz sped through Guerra FCP's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Aloísio da Costa. Hortêncio Prestes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 31 minutes into the match, Trindade FC's goalkeeper Vivaldo Cunha had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Osvaldinho Lago. Vivaldo Cunha made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Osvaldinho Lago sent off a good shot on target. Aloísio da Costa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Durval Santos in the 38th minute of the match. In the 48th minute, Durval Santos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half Trindade FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Trindade FC's Vivaldo Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Osvaldinho Lago in the 54th minute of play. Ronaldinho Braga's late challenge caught a Trindade FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ronaldinho Braga helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Guerra FCP getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Ronaldinho Braga hit a great ball. The referee ignored Trindade FC's protests and gave Aírton Melo a yellow card for diving instead. Osvaldinho Lago struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Vivaldo Cunha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guerra FCP. Hortêncio Prestes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Vivaldo Cunha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osvaldinho Lago in the 76th minute of play forced Trindade FC's goalkeeper Vivaldo Cunha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aloísio da Costa was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Giovani Velasco showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 79 minute of play. Vivaldo Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldinho Lago in the 90th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Osvaldinho Lago managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guerra FCP's supporters rose to their feet, but Osvaldinho Lago was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vivaldo Cunha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hortêncio Prestes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Trindade FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
