In the 27th minute Hélio Monteiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mané Ramalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Goianesia's Reginaldo Sarmento got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Umberto Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Luisinho Pinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mané Ramalho didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luciano Eger went, in the 48th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Umberto Neves to make the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Manguinho's Luciano Eger slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mané Ramalho. That made the score 1-2 after 56 minutes of play. In the 81st minute, Charles Branco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mané Ramalho made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Hélio Monteiro sent off a good shot on target. If Luciano Eger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Umberto Neves in the 93rd minute of play forced Manguinho's goalkeeper Luisinho Pinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 95th minute Alan Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luisinho Pinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
