SÃO PAULO FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emílio Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. SÃO PAULO FC's Edgard Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haroldo Miranda in the 25th minute of play. Edgard Lopes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adriano Tavares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adriano Tavares in the 31st minute of play forced SÃO PAULO FC's goalkeeper Edgard Lopes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 32 minutes into the match, SÃO PAULO FC's goal looked a bit too open when Adriano Tavares came free, but Edgard Lopes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. But to his dismay, Carlos Alberto de Amorim quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Emílio Montenegro made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiago Leite in the 51st minute of play forced SÃO PAULO FC's goalkeeper Edgard Lopes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adriano Tavares could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Edgard Lopes made a huge save. In the 59th minute, Tiago Leite reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Edgard Lopes. The goal made the score 1-4. Red Nozes Football Club's Válbson da Silva shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 63rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Edgard Lopes but with some difficulty. SÃO PAULO FC's Edgard Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto de Amorim in the 64th minute of play. Edgard Lopes was out of position in the 68 minute of play, and Tiago Leite capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Tiago Leite really showed his touch with that goal: 1-5. After some careless play in the SÃO PAULO FC defense, Felipe Trigo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edgard Lopes. The SÃO PAULO FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edgard Lopes should have stopped the shot. Haroldo Miranda succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-7 in the 75th playminute. Dráuzio Veiga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorginho Loureiro having to interfere. With a little luck, SÃO PAULO FC's Edgard Lopes got control of the ball when Adriano Tavares tried to sneak it across the goal line. Edgard Lopes was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Carlos Alberto de Amorim showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-8 in the 83 minute of play. Emílio Montenegro succeeded in the game's 87th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-8. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adriano Tavares got free with Edgard Lopes in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 93rd match minute, Red Nozes Football Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adelino Secco to maneuver through the defense. The SÃO PAULO FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Red Nozes Football Club were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
