Hermínio Simões showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredão Gonçalves in the 5th minute of the match. Olavo de Andrade made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Glauco Valle sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to VILA NOVA F.C. getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Lenílson Pires hit a great ball. If Geovânio de Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. VILA NOVA F.C.'s goalkeeper couldn't reach when Diego Amorim 14 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 30thth minute of the game Alfredão Gonçalves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but São Carlense's Hermínio Simões was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind VILA NOVA F.C.'s goalkeeper Olavo de Andrade, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Geovânio de Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vivaldo Perez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Hermínio Simões tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Alfredão Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Diego Amorim made the kick off in the second half. Bruninho Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Hermínio Simões tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Amorim in the 68th minute of play forced VILA NOVA F.C.'s goalkeeper Olavo de Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olavo de Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Amorim in the 69th minute of the match. Diego Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Olavo de Andrade tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Diego Amorim managed to get in a good position for a shot. São Carlense's supporters rose to their feet, but Diego Amorim was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olavo de Andrade breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 78 minutes, Bruninho Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. VILA NOVA F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Bruninho Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bruninho Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Hermínio Simões made a huge save. In the 86th minute, Glauco Valle left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The São Carlense fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Diego Amorim's late challenge caught a VILA NOVA F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Diego Amorim helped the player get up and apologised. In the 89th match minute, São Carlense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diego Amorim to maneuver through the defense. Bruninho Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Hermínio Simões tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bruninho Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alfredão Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermínio Simões having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The São Carlense fans cheered their team off the field, for while VILA NOVA F.C. had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
