The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Almir Peres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vito Mello, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hortêncio Abreu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 10thth minute tested the skills of Willian Luz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 11thth minute of the game Giovanni Pinheiro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but LEGIONÁRIOS's Almir Peres was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Giovanni Pinheiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Almir Peres. LEGIONÁRIOS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Giovanni Pinheiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Giovanni Pinheiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Almir Peres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35th minute Vito Mello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Almir Peres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Almir Peres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vito Mello in the 37th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Vito Mello's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Almir Peres was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. Vito Mello took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Almir Peres. Almir Peres dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Giovanni Pinheiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Letras FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Giovanni Pinheiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Almir Peres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Giovanni Pinheiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Almir Peres was relentless in the 48th minute of the game. The LEGIONÁRIOS players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Letras FC were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Erik Amaral to make the kick off. Hortêncio Abreu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Willian Luz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 56th minute, Erik Amaral ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Willian Luz was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Giovanni Pinheiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Letras FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Giovanni Pinheiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Almir Peres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vito Mello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Giovanni Pinheiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Giovanni Pinheiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Almir Peres. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Giovanni Pinheiro ran back to his position shaking his head. Vito Mello received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Almir Peres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. LEGIONÁRIOS's Almir Peres proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save LEGIONÁRIOS from getting a goal against them. In the 80th minute, Luiz Fernando Vaz made a precise shot to the right of Almir Peres. LEGIONÁRIOS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. The supporters of Letras FC booed when LEGIONÁRIOS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Perivaldo Maranhense didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, LEGIONÁRIOS's Almir Peres got control of the ball when Giovanni Pinheiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erik Amaral during the 90th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 95th minute, Arí Tande hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Giovanni Pinheiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match was over Letras FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than LEGIONÁRIOS throughout the match.
