The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. César Lopes's late challenge caught a Leonels FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. César Lopes helped the player get up and apologised. César Lopes kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Claudinei Cardoso during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 6th minute, Claudinei Cardoso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. César Lopes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Jardel Fonseca fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Leonels FC's protests and gave Jardel Fonseca a yellow card for diving instead. After 13 played minutes Ipatinga F.C got a freekick which was hit by Benê Alagoano. In the 16th play minute Fausto Nogueira came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Denílson Ferraz. 1-1. If Edu Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30th minute Leonels FC were awarded a corner. Jardel Fonseca went to the cornerflag to take it. Felippe Tande made a great header on Leonels FC's corner, it was just that Ipatinga F.C's Denílson Ferraz managed to reach the ball for a save. Cido Varela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from César Lopes in the 32nd minute of play. Denílson Ferraz made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Fausto Nogueira sent off a good shot on target. 41 minutes into the match, Leonels FC's goal looked a bit too open when Edu Batista came free, but Cido Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Durval Soares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fausto Nogueira made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 47thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Denílson Ferraz would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Durval Soares was the one to do the kick off. If Edu Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. César Lopes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cido Varela having to interfere. César Lopess short, quick shot in the 55thth minute got Cido Varela to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Edu Batista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. César Lopes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cido Varela having to interfere. If Kauã de Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Leonels FC's Claudinei Cardoso got a free kick in the 72nd minute. 74 minutes into the match, Durval Soares notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Ipatinga F.C's Denílson Ferraz. Denílson Ferraz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 83 minutes into the match, Ipatinga F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Fausto Nogueira came free, but Denílson Ferraz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Denílson Ferraz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fausto Nogueira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Durval Soares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Durval Soares succeeded in the game's 88th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 3-1. Elói Jacinto kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Leonels FC were victorious despite being under pressure from Ipatinga F.C for much of the match.
