Ipatinga F.C's César Lopes got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Jardel Dias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Denílson Ferraz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Guilherme Mineiro in the 21st minute. Jardel Dias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Denílson Ferraz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luiz Guilherme Mineiro in the 29thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Denílson Ferraz, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Edu Batista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodolfo Quadros having to interfere. In the 37th minute, Elói Jacinto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ipatinga F.C's Denílson Ferraz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Ipatinga F.C from getting a goal against them. When Haroldo Sá fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tapiraim's protests and gave Haroldo Sá a yellow card for diving instead. Haroldo Sá hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Natã Teles's late challenge caught a Ipatinga F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Natã Teles helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Tapiraim getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Natã Teles hit a great ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jardel Dias made a kick off. When Jardel Dias came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Tapiraim fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jardel Dias couldn't finish the play. After recieving a nice pass, Ipatinga F.C's Kiko Baptista tried to score from far away in the 55th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 59 minutes into the match, Ipatinga F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Jardel Dias came free, but Denílson Ferraz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 61 minutes, Severino Lira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tapiraim and the Ipatinga F.C players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 61st minute, Severino Lira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 64 minutes into the game, Luiz Guilherme Mineiro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Denílson Ferraz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Luiz Guilherme Mineiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tapiraim's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Guilherme Mineiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Denílson Ferraz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jardel Dias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denílson Ferraz having to interfere. Elói Jacinto kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Emílio Gerber was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 74th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Tapiraim's zone, Edu Batista stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rodolfo Quadros came out of the goal and Edu Batista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. César Lopes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodolfo Quadros having to interfere. Ipatinga F.C's César Lopes got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Tapiraim's Rômulo Galvão got a free kick in the 84th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luiz Guilherme Mineiro in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Denílson Ferraz saved Ipatinga F.C from getting behind. Luiz Guilherme Mineiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Denílson Ferraz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
