Nuno Lago started the match with the kick off. Fabiano Brasil struck a weak shot in the 2nd minute. Inácio Rodrigues didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Coromandel. After 3 played minutes Santos FC got a freekick which was hit by Denílson Berger. In the 14th minute, Nuno Lago made a precise shot to the right of Inácio Rodrigues. Santos FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Coromandel's Acácio Prado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Coromandel from getting a goal against them. Fabiano Brasil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inácio Rodrigues having to interfere. If Fabiano Brasil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute Fabiano Brasil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Inácio Rodrigues saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nuno Lago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Inácio Rodrigues tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nuno Lago struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Inácio Rodrigues didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Coromandel. Nuno Lago recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half Coromandel were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ricardo Baptista to make the kick off. Ricardo Baptista blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Acácio Prado having to make a save. After 54 played minutes Coromandel got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fabiano Macedo. After 58 minutes of play, Santos FC's Vito Mota made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Acácio Prado was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Nuno Lago in the 65th minute of play forced Santos FC's goalkeeper Inácio Rodrigues to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Paulão Capixaba fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Coromandel's protests and gave Paulão Capixaba a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Coromandel's Paulão Capixaba got a free kick in the 68th minute. Fabiano Brasil received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Inácio Rodrigues tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fabiano Brasil recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 81 minutes, Fabiano Brasil managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Coromandel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabiano Brasil was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Nuno Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Coromandel were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
