Baruerinthians booed when Tatarem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonas Leite didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an all-out effort, G.F. Baruerinthians's Maurinho Fernandes threw himself towards the right post 11 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Kiko Galvão, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 14th minute of the match, Kiko Galvão tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Maurinho Fernandes saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The crowd rose to their feet as G.F. Baruerinthians's Kiko Galvão slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Maurinho Fernandes. That made the score 1-0 after 17 minutes of play. Maurinho Fernandes was a little too slow when Kiko Galvão got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 22nd minute. The score was now 2-0. 37 minutes into the game, Ramón Madureira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. G.F. Baruerinthians's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tatarem the free kick. The supporters of Tatarem booed when G.F. Afonso Negri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reginaldo de Souza, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Maurinho Fernandes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Murillo Severo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tatarem's Gilmar Melo got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jonas Leite during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Murillo Severo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Maurinho Fernandes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kiko Galvão hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reginaldo de Souza in the 69th minute of play forced G.F. Baruerinthians's goalkeeper Afonso Negri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Murillo Severo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tatarem's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reginaldo de Souza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to G.F. Baruerinthians getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Simão Paraibano hit a great ball. Reginaldo de Souza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
