The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5thth minute of the game Jerônimo Schmidt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but G.F. Baruerinthians's Afonso Negri was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With 8 minutes on the clock, Eduardo Zanette commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rui Campidelis got free with Afonso Negri in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 20 minutes into the match, Murillo Severo notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Shelter's Deng Yang Ping. Deng Yang Ping was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Murillo Severo was the one to do the kick off. Vágner Araújo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Afonso Negri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Afonso Negri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerônimo Schmidt in the 53rd minute of play. In the 60th minute, Murillo Severo made a precise shot to the right of Deng Yang Ping. Shelter's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. Rui Campidelis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Afonso Negri read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Shelter players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
